Set Contact Photo without Having to Save it in My Gallery?

I know it's possible because once, I snapped a picture and added it. The pic somehow embedded itself and I don't have the pic in my gallery.

I have no idea what I did. Does anyone know how to do it? I really can't stand having that generic head in my contacts but I also don't want generic people in my gallery though, either... Lol.

Help. Save me from those generic contact heads.

IIRC, I just edited the contact, trapped on the image and selected camera. Took a pic of said person and saved it.

After setting it on the contact you can delete from gallery.

I'm going to sound ignorant, but what is IIRC, & how do you trap it? Or, did you mean tap? TIA

If I Recall Correctly, and yes, it's supposed to be tap, not trap.
