Set default phone app

Forgive me if there is an existing thread explaining this, but I have searched and could not come up with an answer...

I am using SwipeDialerPro as my dialer app mainly because I wanted a dark themed dialer (the stock dialer is just too darn bright).
I know you can set the default app for messaging (I have set 8SMS as mine).
I am wondering if and how we can set the default app for the dialer/phone?

No, you can use any dialer you want to dial calls, but Phone opens when a call comes in. (If I'm wrong I'd like to hear it, because I've tried making other dialers the default also, but Phone is still the default for incoming calls.)

Good to know. I was about to go nuts trying to find it in the settings, lol.
Would be nice if we could set is as default for inbound and outbound calls. But que sera.

This can be set easily by going to settting/app/all app. Try to find Phone app, scroll down to clear default. Back to All app tab, find your SwipeDialerPro, scroll down to make this app default. You are good to go

Actually that doesn't work. I tried that most obvious method first. No go.
