Set photo as lock screen theme

I want to use a photo as background for my lockscreen, but I've tried different photos and when I set them as background they appear very blurred on the lock screen. Where do I go wrong?

I use an app called photo and picture resize. It allows me to set the size of my pics to the dimensions of the screen. The dimensions are 1440 x 2960 if you decide to use the app.

Downloaded the app and resized the photo, but still blurred...

When you say blurred, do you mean blurred, or pixelated? One is out of focus, and soft, the other is where the pixels are clearly visible as blocky squares. (Hope I'm not presuming your understanding of either here)

Is it possible to get a screen shot?

If it's pixelated, it could be because the images has been effectively blown up to fit the screen dimensions. I suppose if it's blurred, it could be the same thing, just on a smaller scale.

I'd start by checking the pixel dimensions of the image you want to use, and make sure it's at least equal to the screen resolution you're on.

If it's smaller, that's your problem.

Pictures are not too small, and not pixellated but really blurred. Screenshot is not working when the phone is not unlocked so I can't show it. When I use the photos as background for all screens it works just fine, but when only setting them as lockscreen background they are severely blurred.

Please forgive an obvious point. You say the images are not too small. Have you checked? I assume you have, in which case apologies for doubting you, but I do mean it kindly. Did you actually check the pixel dimensions? The screen on this phone is large, and the image does need to be at least equal in pixel dimensions to work.

I'm using an image I downloaded, but I created a blank document in Photoshop of the exact dimensions of the screen resolution, and dropped the downloaded image into the template. After some adjustments, and shaping, it was a perfect fit.

My lock screen image is crystal clear.

So again, sorry if it seems pedantic, but if you're only assuming the image is big enough, I'd still encourage you to physically check. If you have done so, sorry.

Are you getting the same effect with all images you use, or just the one you're having trouble with?

I did indeed check, but of course you could not be sure of that. And yes, this concerns all pictures unfortunately...
