Setting to change S Voice wake up command?

Unfortunately I found this out as well. But I found that you can use this feature by downloading "Dragon mobile assistant" from the play store until an update comes out. It's definitely not s voice so be warned lol.

With the recent firmware update, you can wake s-voice from pattern-locked screen by saying, hi galaxy. Unfortunately, you have to say hi galaxy again to get command ping. Pre-update if you wanted to make a call it was--hi galaxy, call home, yes. Now it's -- hi galaxy, hi galaxy, call home, hi galaxy, yes. There doesn't seem to be a way to change this.

You know I actually find it useful although I didn't think I would do so to many complaints. I hated Siri. That stupid thing never got anything right and always froze on me. I use S Voice now for a lot of things. I use it for setting my alarms when my phone is across the room and I forgot. The most useful is for directions while driving. I drive a lot and being able to get directions while the phone is in the cradle is a awesome feature especially since it works so well. I think I'm one of the few who may like it though lol. Google Now is awesome as well.

i find s voice useful, mostly for setting alarms and calendar entries. i just think google now is more useful and would like the option to choose.

I found out that you CAN NOT set your lock screen to anything other than Swipe to allow you to use the multiple voice commands.
Try it. Set your lock screen to swipe. Then go to the voice commands and you'll see four (I think) different options for using various commands to do what you want.

Well, actually the "Hi Galaxy" wake up command actually let anyone phone any number they wanted if they got their hands on your phone so how safe is that??

You can bypass s voice using tasker but it's a work-around. We pay $600+ for a phone which is ruined by garbage software. I feel the phone would worthed more Samsung hadn't put all their garbage software on it. What's the need? They could just leave the much better Google things on there

I know for a fact know the Verizon S4 version had this because mine still has my custom wake up command "wake up War Machine" instead of "hi galaxy". But I can't change it now because that option is no longer on the menu. The 4 "custom" wakeup options to open apps are there but no longer is the option to change the main wakeup command.

That's great for Samsung but when we stand next to each other and you say "hi galaxy " "call girlfriend" my phone dials my girlfriend. Every time that happens my wife gets really pissed off. Now who at Samsung thought this was a good Idea? Didn't they learn that Apple had the same issue.

I was going to post the solution that worked for me and then saw Mdowdy81 already mentioned it. That is where I found the option, too.
Go into general settings. Select Lock Screen options. At the bottom is "set wake-up command". There are four functions you can set. Tab function 1 and select "unlock". You will be prompted to record the voice command. If you want to change it, tap function one and you will be prompted to select what you want to change.

The main issue is that we want to change "Hi Galaxy" to something else! I had the ability to do that with my S4 but there were issues with the phone and I had to return it. The one I have now will not allow me to change it from "Hi Galaxy" to something else. I find this annoying as all get out because, as others have said, we would like to have it sound more like we're talking to something from Star Trek or Star Wars. What gives?

AMEN! I wanted to impress folks with a simple "abracadabra"! Phooey!

try going back into the S voice settings and where it says 'wake up' (and it says it is ON) - click that. click OK on the box that pops up and it should take you to a screen where you can actually change the wake up command. That's how I did it on my note 4. you can't do it while connected to other Bluetooth devices so you will have to turn your Bluetooth off first to do it. I hope this helps...

When I got the phone it had the default sounds and still does, and the mailman/bike bell dinger went off a lot. the whistle is funny too. but the dinger inspired me to name my note 3 "KaChing" But if i have to say "Hi Galaxy" it will be like saying "Hi woman", which seems rude. I would not mind saying "hello KaChing." or even her initials like "Hi KTD" (KaChing Tablet Device). It seems like if its gonna talk to me i wanna personalise it. -or her. I think of my tablet as a her.

I dont think anyone with the note 3 has it . When I had my s4 it was good. My wake up command was Go Go Gadget

I know on KitKat 4.4.2 the option to change the S-voice wake up command to something else has been removed. The only wake up command you can change is that to unlock your phone. To access that you would have to change your screen lock to swipe. Upon doing so wake up command appear at the bottom thereby allowing you to change your PHONE wake up command. S-voice wake up command still remains as, "Hello Galaxy".

I also feel ridiculous saying hello to my cell phone. Fortunately my phone is very poor at detecting homophones. So to wake my phone, I borrow a page from Isaac Asimov's book , and I declare, "I, Galaxy". Another homophone that i have successfully tested is, "I, Fallacy". You may be able to invent other phrases that sound close enough to trigger the command response! Like, "My Policy".

You have to go into the actual app. You can do it by double-clicking on the home button or by opening the S Voice app from your list of applications. Once there, you should click on botttom left menu button to bring up the menu that contains the settings. The picture shows what needs to be checked to turn it on. Again, let me know if you need more instruction but this should work.
