Settings - Device Storage Issue

My motorola G50 has suddenly started defaulting into the 'Device Storage' menu as soon as i goto the phone settings option. If i click on back i see the settings menu for a second then it goes straight back into 'device storage' again. If i manage to access quickly one of the other settings option its fine until i go back to settings then 'device storage' shows up straight away again.
Phone was fine for first few months of ownership.
My wifes LG does exactly the same.
Any thoughts?

From the shortcut on the home screen. Was fine until about a week ago.

See if you get the same problem opening the settings from the notification shade. Also, remove the home screen shortcut, restart the phone and add it back, just in case.

Still does the same that way also. Can't seem to remove the shortcut from the desktop. No option of deleting

That's a very strange behaviour. Since the same is happening with your wife's phone (different brand) I wonder if it's caused by a third party app that you both use. Try in Safe Mode, as B. Diddy suggested.

Cleared the cache out of the setting app and it seems to have sorted it. Why would it do that?

It can be hard to know exactly why a glitch occurs. Presumably there was some wonky data that got stuck in the app cache. See if it happens again in the future.
