Settle for the G7 because of the price?

I just got a new V40 from T-Mobile for $720 on an existing line and no trade-in. I just paid off my girlfriend's K20 Plus, they asked for $72 down and taxes, and that was it.

Yeah I was going to get a 6T this week but wondering if I'm not getting better value with the V40 for the extra $120

If wireless charging, great audio quality, and a more versatile camera are all things that are important to you, it's 100% worth it. Otherwise the 6t is very similar.

AT&T doesn't have the G7 and the extra zoom camera on the back is useful as well as the dual front cameras being able to do portrait mode. Played with one at the store and the front cameras are SO much better than my V30.

Plus that 3000 mAh battery in the G7 is on the small side.

A year old article about software on a four year old device?

Chinese manufactures have a bad history with transparency. ZTE, Lenovo (aka Motorola), Huawei, and OnePlus.

"January 2018: OnePlus Ships Beta Software with a Suspicious Clipboard APK
Just days after announcing the credit card breach that compromised 40,000 users’ card information, a user found a questionable APK in a beta build of OxygenOS for the OnePlus 3t and posted all about it on Twitter. Essentially, he found a clipboard capture tool whose code implied that it copied information placed on the clipboard and attempts to send it back to Teddy Mobile—a Chinese company that “develops a smartphone application that helps to identify called identity based on data capabilities.”... Supermicro, a Chinese company, got caught inserting a tiny spy chip on devices.

Both Huawei and ZTE founders were ex-Chinese military officers.. I can go on with proof but the list is long...

What makes it a bad choice since it's his choice to make?
I wanted to ask but I didn't know how to phase it. Most phones are great these days. And whatever works for you, works for you. The internet will be the internet I guess.
Thanks guys. I had and have concerns to but I also feel like in this day and age any device made by any manufacturer including apple has risks as soon as you put any of you information on it. You have no guarantees, I don't trust Google, Apple, Microsoft, LG, Samsung, Motorola, Nokia, HTC, T-Mobile, Verizon, Sprint, at&t or any of them. If you want to use these devices and all the great and fun things they can do then you are putting yourself at risk. Security is an illusion and anyone that thinks they are secure is fooling themselves.

That said, I would like to think T-Mobile would not be selling their stuff if they found anything like that. Not saying I think it's a fact or foolproof but I hope that's the case. As for the 6T, the software touches are what really make this a joy to use, so many little things that nobody does. Things that Google does poorly that Samsung, LG, Moto, all leave as is. To me this is what a Pixel should be like to use but instead I think Google has their head up their butt a bit. Quite frankly, after using this, I'm done spending more than $600 for a phone. They have nothing to offer me that I need at this point.

I have zero experience with the V40, but I have had my G7 for a few weeks now and I absolutely love it. I picked up the "Unlocked" version from B&H for $529 on sale. Everyone seems to bring up the 3000mah battery being small, which I agree when comparing it to most flagship phones, but the battery has really surprised me big time. I assume it has mostly to do with the super efficient SD 845 processor. Now... my "Unlocked" version doesn't have all of the bloatware that usually comes on the devices from the main carriers, and I also disabled all of the factory installed apps that I will never use. Here are a couple of screen shots from a couple days ago of the Battery Usage... Both are with the display at 40% brightness.... The first one is WITHOUT the Battery Saver turned on, the second one is with the Battery Saver turned ON to "Extended" setting... Both days were used in the same exact manner, gaming, surfing the net, streaming video, Email, and so on... I am more than satisfied with my new G7, seems like the battery keeps getting a little better with each day of use.. Screenshot_2018-11-27-21-51-55.jpegScreenshot_2018-11-28-21-40-09.jpeg

I'm always glad to hear when someone is happy with their choice regardless of device
