severe sms program lag after 2.2??

i think it has to do with the software and maybe how SMS itself is rendered?

the program is a little different visually, so i would assume its just as different code wise as well.

i guess a fix would be to, wipe your phone via hard reset, after setting it up, set it up to auto delete texts after a certain amount 100-300 maybe?

if i go into the settings and limit the texts now, the phone goes haywire, it literally takes 3-4 battery pulls to get everything normal again.

It must just be certain people, because I don't encounter this problem at all. So I doubt it's software, or else it would be affecting everyone.

Well everyone in the thread says this issue is AFTER 2.2., so it has to be Froyo related..

im not sure everyone is a heavy texter, as some of us are..

It's not Froyo related, considering Froyo builds on other phones do not have it. It would be HTC's rom over Froyo, which the messaging app is apart of not Froyo. Again not everyone has it, so I believe it's more user error, or something is causing it. Cause again I don't have it, and I know about 10 other guys with the Evo not experiencing it.

its not user related, go through the whole posts and see ppl who cant even text period, how is it our fault the phone is messing up on simple smsing?

It's related to a bug in facebook app. Go to People->Menu->View, and note how many contacts you have synced from Facebook.

I'm not getting SMS lags, what I am finding is that when I have 4g enabled after a few hours the phone becomes very laggy to the point of taking 10 secs or more to even go between screens or other applications. When I turn off 4g in about a few minutes the phone becomes very snappy and responsive as when I first bought it. When I called Sprint they were aware of the problem. I also told them this is in fact Froyo related as I have never had this problem when I was on 2.1. In fact I always kept my phone on 4g, and getting down load speeds of 4-5MB. I am now just using 3g and when I get home switching to wifi. I live in Austin, TX which is a 4g city and hope they can get this fixed soon. So this might be because you guys are using 4g, if not then it might be some other problem. But at lest on mine end I do know it's a 4g and Froyo issue.

a quick update, after countless battery pulls, restarts, and freezing while trying to delete messages with no success, i noticed my SMS was VERY snappy..

so snappy i had to look and see what the hell was going on lol..

well its seems like my phone FINALLY deleted the threads i was trying to delete, i dont know when or how it did it, but it did and wow the phone is like new again..

now that i got the chance to delete SMS thread and set up a set number of texts before deletion, i took full advantage.

i got it set to about 300 sms before it auto deletes..

so yes it does have to do with the huge blocks of sms...

im trying to delete threads over 500 but it just hangs up and will eventually force close. any ideas?

I use Handcent for my texting, and the only lag I notice is when I'm typing. I find it a bit annoying that there's keyboard lag... reminds me of the Hero :/

well i just completely reseted my phone and will not restore anything. gonna start from scratch

i had this issue and it had to do with syncing my accounts. i un-synced everything! gave it a day or so, then i went back and was able to resync all of my accounts (FB for htc, Twitter, etc.) doesn't seem to have the issue any more!
