Severe storms are in my neighborhood as I type this. 80 MPH winds expected. Anyone know of an app or widget that would actively notify me of severe weather? Something I don't have to wake the phone up for. What if these storms were to hit at 3:00am, and I hadn't watched the news?
Something BEYOND a notification tone?

Gotten about 10 tornados since I moved here. We have a history: 1990 Plainfield tornado - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Try WeatherBug. It's free. I has notifications and you can select a different ringtone than the one you use for email or sms.. Not shure if the Weather Channel app has notifications as well. Hope this helps.

It does help. Thank you. The "always on" alert is grayed out. Only works in "Elite"?

I can second on Weather Bug. I have the elite version. I live in Texas and know all about sever weather.
In the year iused the app, maybe 2, i only had once where it failed me. The notifications still worked but the maps failed to load and radar failed as well. However the severe weather notifications still kept going.
