So I own the SII and the Nexus 7. I would say, go for the S3. Cannot really say why. The Nexus7 is a really great tablet so I think the Nexus 4 is a really great phone too. But the S3 seems a little bit more solid to me. Just my 2 cents.

Define "solid" if by that you mean it is a more complete package in terms of features and specs I can see where you are coming from.

I love my S3, but your best solution is to sell your S3 as a Verizon phone and buy a new N4. You might be able to come out with extra cash.
