Just a warning. An ip67 rating is meant to protect against incidental and brief immersion in water. By no means should this phone be taken swimming or used purposely underwater. I know the marketing eludes to this kind of use and it might be hard for some to believe that marketing plp are eluding to claims the designers did not intend. Due to water pressure caused by movement I would never swim with anything not rated for 50 meters NOT one. I have this phone and love it. I"ll take it out openly in my kayak and in lots of situations where it might accidently get dunked. I won't be dunking it to show off or swimming and taking underwater pics. Tempt fate at your own risk.

Yep there is already at least one report here of someone who got it wet and it wouldn't work anymore, and he said that he's heard of many other similar reports. Plus the warranty specifically states NOT to get it wet with ANY liquids or even moisture...

1 meter (3 feet) for up to 30 minutes.....If you've put the back on correctly. Not confusing or misleading. No other phone even gives you a chance if dropped in water.

You're right. Even though it can survive underwater of 1 meter depth for 30 minutes, it doesn't guarantee it will still survive far higher water-pressure cases like direct water stream from faucet or swimming while holding the phone. Direct water stream from faucet applies much higher water-pressure than we would think. People should understand that this is not the phone which can be used as sort of shield, though small, against the water stream from water-shooting devices.

Just keep in mind that Samsung equipped it with an under-water photography app. I don't think they intended this to be used during accidental drops in 0.5 inch deep puddles.

Here is my story. I pre-ordered the active and it came in on the 20th. I live in south Florida and try to get on the water as often as possible, so I figured this phone would be a good combo for boating and fishing. I went out boating this past Sunday and did some testing, which included dunking the active in salt water and taking a quick picture, just below the surface of the water. All went well and when I cleaned the boat, I also filled up a bowl with fresh water to flush the phone out, no problems. Later that evening I had an issue with the phone staying in "Headphone" mode and a little bit of Q-tip and alcohol took care of that. Next day I could tell people were having a hard time hearing me clearly on phone conversations and in the early afternoon the handset mic died. People could hear me on a headset or via bluetooth in my car without any problems. All other aspects of the phone where perfect except for the mic issue.

Went to my local ATT store last night and they swapped the phone out for me without any issues. So either the water killed the mic or it was defective and would have failed anyway.

I doubt I will intentionally dunk the phone again and I'm just putting this information out as a data point.

I've been working on a 'active' version of the HTC One. Turns out it's relatively inexpensive to do, but I also have a problem with people hearing me. For some odd reason they tell me it sounds muffled...

I fell in the lake back when I had the original iPhone. It was about a year old and worked just fine for the life of its contract. Heck I still have it and it still works. Obviously I don't use it, I got the HTC one. Looking forward to more reviews on the active.
