Shall we talk about FPS placement

The forum represents near 0% of phone buyers so that's irrelevant.

Samsung could care less what people on the forum think about the FPS. They care about the sales of the S8/+, which were tremendous. So if that many people bought the phone with that FPS placement, they knew having it in a similar location would be a non issue.

I mean .. If we are being real here .. many people buy phones and may not love 100% of everything about it. They compromise. Such as here some people don't like the location but don't see it as a deal breaker (like donm said) so they say is that inconvenience worth it? Sounds like they said yeah it is .. But they can still not LIKE it.

Oh also I think you meant to say they "couldn't care less" -- otherwise I don't get what you are saying is their main care / focus when making phones. I mean the previous Samsung phones that removed SD cards still sold well but they listened to people saying they want that back and it came back.

Many people is how many exactly? Ten? Hundred? Million? I mean if we are being real shouldn't we put a number on how many people are compromising when they buy a $800+ phone?

And yep, it was couldn't but I don't take the time to proof read a forum post. I do apologise to the entire forum for that grammatical error.

Not sure. I don't have the numbers .. Just saying people complained and the feature came back. Also just stating just because someone may not like one aspect doesn't mean they should instantly not buy it.

That is very kind of you :).

I still don't understand what argument you're trying to make.

Billions of McDonald's hamburgers are sold every year, but that doesn't make them the best burger out there. The FPS location sucks on the S8s, plain and simple. But it's not a deal breaker. Like someone else said, remember the S6? It sold a ton, but it had a tiny battery and it lacked microSD support. But people purchased them. It doesn't mean they liked those features missing.

I don't mind it at all. The time I've had my S8+ has gotten me rather used to it. Here are a few pics of a demo model at my local Best Buy I checked out today

I didn't say anything about it being the best out there. And what does a $2 burger have to do with a $900 phone?

You're making the argument that just because something is on the phone, everyone must love it because they're purchasing it. That is not the case at all. People are purchasing the phone because there are many different things about the device that they love and the placement of the FPS isn't a deal breaker, even though it is in a terrible location. I have been pointing that out, as well as several others here.

Oh, so you've gone from hating the FPS to it just not being a deal breaker. Got it.

Did I read somewhere that apple were ditching the fps altogether?

I thought they were also going with 3D facial recognition using laser scanning so it can't be spoofed with a photo. The first smartphone to use this technology.

It's not great however:

I've not used it yet so I can't comment too much on it

Apparently having a case helps a lot

Also they have separated the camera lens and fingerprint sensor by putting the heart rate monitor in between so this could help

Finally I've never liked the FP sensors on Samsung phones because they don't work very well for me so I'm actually planing on using the iris scanner as much as possible.
