I would think it's up to the app developer to properly implement the Share API. The order of apps is supposed to be based on appropriateness and frequency of use, but there doesn't always appear to be any rhyme nor reason. The Share menu has been the subject of criticism for a long time. They supposedly fixed it with 10, but that remains to be seen. To be honest, I never had a big problem with the Share menu -- it's never been sluggish to me, and it's not a hardship to just scroll through and find the app I want to share to. But if you listen to the Android Central podcast a lot, as well as other Android podcasts, that's a favorite thing to harp on.:-\

I've been using the SHARE command for years but now my favorite SHARE is missing from the group. I found some work arounds but it's a pain in the butt. There are instructions to make changes to the SHARE command but they didn't work. Hopefully the problem will go away by itself just as it appeared by itself. Thanks for letting me know about the ongoing problem as I felt like I was doing something wrong. Thanks again.

The share icons can't be rearranged manually but there's a trick to pin your favourite targets. After you select share, long press one of the apps listed and you should get an option to pin it. Well, at least that how it works on Pie.

In your case the catch is that your favourite target doesn't show up on the list. Which app is it? And from which apps are you trying to share? Have you tried from Google apps like Chrome, Docs, etc?

It's also possible that app hasn't been properly updated for Android 10 yet.

The app is an email address (wife) who is interested in articles from my newsreaders. A few days ago, SHARE worked perfectly in that her email address was in the list. If the target wasn't in the list, I would use the account NEW EMAIL, manually entered the address, and subsequently would appear the next time I used the SHARE command. Trying the suggestion of using Chrome etc didn't make any difference. I'm now using the workaround but its a pain in the butt. Thanks for suggestions.

It's possible that her email address gets back to share menu after sharing a few more links with it. Then remember to pin it to keep it in that menu.

And yes, the share menu is a big mess.

One more thing that may be important. My SHARE command shows 2 rows of shared apps and most other apps on the phone. The 1st row is a list of text messages shares that I recently sent. Nothing I do in the way of SHARES changes that 4 remnants of previous shares. I don't know how that can help diagnose the problem, but I offer it as FYI.

I just read a post about the SHARE menu. The poster claims that the problem is with MESSAGES. He said if he cleared the Storage And Cache, the Share menu was cleared. It worked for me and I use TEXTRA. Good luck.
