Wife has Samsung GS7. I have shared my google calendar with her, but when I do, all of my contacts show up in her default SMS messenger app. They do NOT show up in the normal Contacts list (unless she selects my specific Google account).

Is there a way to suppress these in the SMS messenger app?

I tested this in reverse on my GS9 with her contacts, and results are the same

You should be able to turn off Contact sync in the Sync Settings for your Google account (since you added your account to her phone, that has access to anything that is allowed to sync from that account). If you go to the phone's Settings, then Accounts and backup, then Accounts, then select the Google Account you want to share calendar only and there you can turn on/off anything from that account you want to sync.

BUT if you want to share just the calendar you might want to look into Sharing the Calendar with her account from the Google Calendar app or site (or, alternatively, publish the calendar publicly from the same sources and then have the other device use the shareable link).

Did you add your account to her phone (it sounds like it), or did you add your calendar to hers in Google Calendar (which is what you should have done)? Adding your account to her phone gives her access to everything you sync.
