Not sure about the timing issue you have, but look really close at the camera lens and see if there is a thin piece of plastic covering it... it's really hard to see. My S5 still had it on the lens when I first received it and I used a piece of tape to stick on the plastic and pull it off. My device takes a picture in about .5 seconds after hitting the shutter (camera button) even in a darkened room.... it is set to "Auto" mode, 2.4M, picture stabilization off... when I just tried it with the stabilization on the picture took slightly longer to take, but it was only like 1 sec at the most.
