Shattershield questions

My naked screen is starting to show some faint scratches now so I'm thinking about replacing the stock screen protector (based on other posts, I figured this might happen but I was curious to see how it would hold up).

1. Has anybody replaced the stock screen protector yet, and if so how difficult was it?

2. What are others using on top of the stock protector?

I didn't replace the original top layer, but I put on the flexible glass protector from Verizon and am very happy with it. I didn't touch the screen before I put it on so I can't give a comparison.

I did the same. The Verizon flexible glass screen protector was put on my T2 before the phone was fully activated. No regrets.

Ditto with two above - Vzw flexible protector. Although mine was a few days after the fact as I got my T2 thru Motomaker.

If I were you I'd get the moto shattershield replacement, and then add the verizon flexible glass screen protector. That way you have no scratches underneath the verizon screen protector. I've been really happy with the verizion screen protector, feels almost identical to gorilla glass and I don't even know it's there.

Thanks for all the responses so far. That is one of things I really like about this forum, a lot of helpful people and not all of the garbage you see in other places.

Anyway, I am leaning towards going with the shattershield replacement then the flexible glass on top. I've always used a screen protector on my other phones, but this one sort of gives you an excuse not to. Hopefully, I can put the thing on right.........

Here's the story, those micro scratches you see are from nothing other than your finger tip and dust. After getting those scratches on my screen, I got the Verizon glass screen put on top of it, and 80% of those previous smudges can hardly be seen anymore

Another vote for the Verizon tempered glass protector. Left the original peel-off throw-away protector on the phones (3 Turbo 2's) until a Verizon employee installed the tempered glass. All the phones look and feel like new after weeks of use. Highly recommended.

Me personally, I would remove the scratched one and install the glass one from Verizon. I wouldn't bother replacing the scratched one with a new one AND a glass one.

But you should also warn when you give that advice that Motorola has clearly stated that the warranty for the shattershield display requires that the outer lens component be installed.

Yeah, it goes without saying. You mess with your phones original equipment, you risk voiding warranty. And it wasn't advice, it was what I would do If something were to strangly go wrong, you could always just install a lens component before sending it in.

For those who care, I just bought a new shattershield replacement on Amazon and it does not have the VZW logo on it. OEM, same price, but no shipping.

If I decide to install the new one, I will report back.

I've replaced the shattershield twice. The first one I botched. I had a huge bubble that I tried to fix and left a quarter sized blotch under one of the corners. The 2nd one I did right. Then I placed a Skinomi screen protector on top of that.

How difficult was it to replace? Also, what do you think of the Skinomi screen protector?

Tried putting on the flexible glass protector after replacing my Shattershield so I wouldn't scratch the new one. The Shattershield was easier to put on and worked better than trying to put the flexible glass protector. I cleaned the screen with the cloth and the dust tape and blew it off with can air and the adhesive still didn't stick right. Bubbled like crazy. The Shattershield was actually not hard to replace if you follow the video instructions.
