Hi all, while since my last post on these forums as i havent had any devices to shout about apart from the S6 which is still a treat.

Anyways now that Nvidia have released the shield K1 which is basically the old shield im just looking for some user reviews from members on this forum. Coming from an original nexus 7 thats just died after 3 years im now in the market for a new tab. Ive looked at the nexus 9 which i do like but i was hoping for expandable storage and some way of easily connecting to my smart tv (Nexus 9 has no mirrowcast or mini hdmi). So ive came across what looks like a real bargain for the shield at only £150. Not a huge gamer even though i will try that side of the tab out if i get one but i'tll be used for media & browsing

Thanks in advance ;)

I haven't used it personally, but everyone I know that has says the same thing: Best tablet they've owned.

It's not for everyone though, as the screen is still small for some (myself included, which is why I stick to the Tab S 10.5). But yeah, general perception is that the Shield is awesome.

I have had mine for over a year now and honestly is the best tablet I have ever owed. Some people had issues in the past but I am sure the new version will improve upon the design where needed, granted I personally did not experience those issues.

Also when 6.0 is on it the SD functionality will finally be what it should be which is huge for me, as the one grip would be storage space.

It's been really solid. I've had since August 2014 and though I haven't used it heavily the whole time, it's been really reliable (and fairly snappy aside from the 5.0 days). Software experience is hard to beat with timely (I'm talking nearly Nexus-like) updates. I've used stylus a lot for note-taking and am a fan but most view it as a novelty. Forward facing speakers are a bonus. Battery life is fine, screen is nice but not amazing. Definitely on the chunky side but I've always liked the feel in the hand(s). The cover is worth it for screen protection and stand functionality. Own the controller and it's fun but I'm not a true gamer, so look elsewhere for real-life experiences with that.

Yes awesome tablet.

About only flaw is the buttons are small and hard to tell if you hit them.

I very much recommend the screen cover which helps eliminate the need to hit the power button. Nvidia's is around $39, but I have heard some of the generics for less than half also trigger the screen on off properly. I will say keeping my tablet with shield cover on it in a book bag eventually broke the hinge on my cover, but nvidia replaced it.

Gaming is obviously a big plus for the tablet but it shines in other ways as well. The front facing stereo speakers are very nice... I mostly cast nowadays but having a mini hdmi is also handy (adapter is a few bucks from amazon), and nicer than micro hdmi which I find difficult to keep in the socket at times.

The k1 left off the stylus but if you can get your hands on one I recommend it if you are into that kind of stuff. The dabbler app has a learning curve but is pretty amazing what it does with a passive stylus like the one that came with the original (far better than those cheap styluses you see everywhere).
