Shift from a Blackberry

I came to the Shift from a 9530 by way of an Epic (for 3 days). Although I have had my Shift for just about 12 hours, I can say it was a great choice. I have been unhappy with BB for a while and have been looking forword to the switch to Android.

Does the shift have speed dial keys?

Yes, three ways that I can see:

(1) Call up dialer, then long-press a number button (e.g., 1-9) to place a speed dial call.

(2) Call up dialer, press Menu, then Speed dial, then tap the listing you want.

(3) On a home screen, with the physical keyboard open, press and release FN, then long press the number of the speed dial you want to call.

(I haven't assigned any yet; I just have Sprint's defaults.)

I was a BB user for the past 2 years. Had the 8330 then the 9650, I loved my BB, they do make great phones. But after coming over to the shift, android is light years ahead of BB. BB isnt coming out with anything new and exciting, using the same form factor, technology, ect....which is good for BB, they use what works. But I got bored with it. All I can say about the shift is, WOW. So much faster and most of the apps android has that BB has are either alot cheaper or free. I couldnt beive the difference in apps. I do not regret my desicion to switch.

As a former blackberry user I can say the shift is a good phone to transition to. If you need one handed use you'll have to use the vertical keyboard which you can get used to pretty easily. This is only my 2nd day with the phone but I'm loving it so far. Battery life was bad the first day but I've done a lot of tweaking and am down about 10% after an hour and a half with mild use and 15 minutes of pandora. The phone is pretty fast too, especially compared to blackberry. Only thing I've somewhat missed is bbm but ill get over that.
Funny, I used to love BBM too until all of my BBM Buddies went to either iPhone or Android. Now my BBM list is empty! Methinks this will be the year that BB became irrelevant.

I came from a BlackBerry Tour. Before that I had three previous BlackBerry phones. Even though I was a diehard BB user/lover... I am so glad that I made the switch. I love everything about my Shift!! My Mom had the EVO and I kept telling her that all it needed was a physical qwerty and it would be perfect.

i had a blackberry curve and i will never got back im in love with the evo shift 4g. this phone is so much more reliable than the bb.

I recently made the switch from a blackberry having been a long fan of the BB and I will have to say i am in love with the evo shift only thing i miss here is the bb IM
