While the pixel XL is a great phone, it's just not worth the price compared to other smartphones out there.
I debated with my self about the 6p and pixel XL (since I don't own either of them) and found out that I don't need a slightly better camera. For processor, the SD810 is still able to handle anything, 3GB of RAM is by far enough and since I consume media a lot is critical for me to have FF speakers. I know android 7.1 will be exclusive to pixel for like 2 months, but hey I will be the first in line to get when it's out (unlike other OEMs flagships), plus I can live without google assistant (though if it will come to the 6p that would be awesome) and the pixel launcher is the easiest thing to have on a phone.
So in conclusion l, I'll go with a 6P until next year and if google got the 2nd gen pixel right it, I will buy it.

I'm more so upset with the Verizon carrier exclusive. I know I can get it unlocked from the Play Store. But it'll either have to pay $650 upfront or get approved for financing through Google. I'm already financing with T-Mobile. I just don't understand the Verizon exclusivity.

I'm not surprised. Google needs the shelf space that VZW gives them in stores. We here in forums are the 1% ... If this Pixel experiment is to take hold, they need the casual buyers to pick one up and just offering it online isn't going to increase their market share.

Given the recent Samsung issues, it's a smart move to make the phone available in carrier stores. Since the recent Motorola phones were a dud, and not for the casual user (too many mods, too confusing "for your mom") VZW needed a new Android flagship device for the holidays and given their hold on the market it totally makes sense.

I'd not be surprised to see Nexus brand come back, in a similar fashion, with OEM branding but a cheaper price point. But I get the VZW exclusive.

And from some things we are hearing the Verizon exclusive might be for a short time anyway and then we'll see it on more carriers maybe even next month. Perhaps the exclusive was to get Verizon to carry it.

Where did you hear that? If that's true I'll hold off on getting a new phone right now. I was planning on snagging either a 6P or OnePlus 3 for Black Friday.
