SholesMod Updater = Awesome

Not sure if this has been mention before, but I didn't see it anywhere so I figured I'd start a thread.

I just downloaded SholesMod Updater from Android Market and I must say it is one of the best apps ever. Roots your phone and Installs the customer ROM pretty much all by itself. The ROM itself gives you 2.1 and the milestone browser (aka multitouch). Plus you can overclock the CPU (got mine set at 800mhz) which makes things run a lot smoother. If you are interested in rooting your phone but don't really know how to do it, this thing is the best. The downside is that it only works for the Droid right now.

i dont think the mod gives you 2.1, my version still shows 2.0.1, however it does give you the 2.1 components that are available (launcher, gallery, music, etc)...

It gives a 2.1 base. I used the same just for an easier root and sperecovery creation. Then i flashed to Bugless Beauty right after. Great app though, would HIGHLY recommend it.

SholesMod does NOT have a 2.1 base. It has a base of 2.0.1 with lots of goodies on top of it (including many 2.1 components).

Are you sure? I noticed the keyboard backlight issues and all just like if the device was running 2.1...
