shooting video silences system sounds

Whenever I shoot a video (default camera app), my S21U (BVA6) turns off system sounds. That makes sense during the video, but the system sounds remain off afterward until I manually move the system-sound slider back up. Does this happen to everyone, and is there a setting to fix it?

I don't have the S21, however it doesn't behave that way on my Note 20, or Zfold 3, nor did it happen on any of my prior Samsungs. Try it in safe mode to rule out any 3rd party app conflicts.

one thing you can do is to submit error report to samsung members app > get help > error report after reproducing the issue.
this should be a software related issue that the samsung engineers should be able to help with quite easily.

Before I do anything else, I'd like to find out whether or not others also have this happening on the S21 Ultra, or if it's just me.

try setting up a task with "Bixby Routine" and see how it works
I appreciate the suggestion, but would there be a way to automatically trigger the routine whenever video-recording finishes? If I have to trigger it manually, I'd just as soon adjust the system-volume slider directly.

Video recording goes through the Camera app, right !! If you set the Routine that the Camera app behaves the same when opened / closed then the goal is achieved ... try it, it's not hard..

Your talking about this slider for system?

Yes, the one with the wrench icon.
Test this out , long press the camera app icon >tap info>scroll all the way to bottom >tap all system changes and toggle off ...see if that prevents it changing the slider Screenshot_20220217-235903_Settings.jpg

Nope, the slider goes to zero even with that permission denied. I guess the system volume doesn't count as a system setting.

There few more things to try , clear data and force stop camera app to reset it , which carrier you have ?

TMO. Clearing data is only worth trying if there's evidence that other people's Camera app on the S21 Ultra behaves differently from mine under BVA6. So far no one has said so.

Understand like to help troubleshoot this for you , I have couple Samsung devices that don't do this , if you like to try more things I can suggest or if you want hold off ?

Thanks, I appreciate your help but let's hold off until/unless someone with an S21 Ultra with BVA6 responds. (My previous phones didn't do this either, and I'm not certain if this one did before a few weeks ago.)

Ok , let me know

My new S22 Ultra does the same thing. Looks like it's not limited to my S21 Ultra, or even to that model at all.
