Short code texting

I tried to send a "short code" text (the kind where you use a 5 digit number to vote for something, etc.) and I got a failed message that says "shortcode texting may be blocked on your phone".
Any one know how to "fix" this. I've looked all over my settings, etc. on my Evo and can't find anything.

Call Sprint, I am sure, if anything, it would be fixed by them -- I have never heard of any phone having a setting like this. Is the account yours or are you on someone else's plan? My guess would be you are on someone else's plan and they have blocked that service as often those numbers are nothing more than scams to start charging the account.

Thanks for your advise! I will be in the neighborhood of a Sprint store tomorrow and will stop in for a "check-up".
By the way, I had this question posted on 4 forums and you are the only person who responded, intelligently at least. Thanks again!

Although it can be inconvenient at times, I had Sprint block them on my account a couple of years ago. My son's phone was slammed with several bogus 3rd party charges (ring tone services) that I knew he couldn't have signed up for (the times they said the received the subscription message, the phone was off and at home while he was at school - the elementary school didn't allow any student to have a mobile phone on their grounds).

While Sprint finally canceled the charges, it was enough of a hassle that I had them block short-codes. In your case, the account owner should be able to call Sprint to allow your phone to access them.
