Should I buy a Nexus 4, 5 or 7?

Hi Android Central,

This is my first post. Anyways I really like the looks of android and have been playing around with jelly bean on my cheap android phone and have been enjoying it. The phone is good and all but it will never get updates. I am also highly invested in iOS and buy all my music from iTunes. I would be fine with Google Play Music if the songs work in iTunes on my laptop.

So I have been looking at vanilla android google devices and might get one. I just can't decide which one to get. I know the Google Play store no longer sells the Nexus 4 but T-Mobile does for $19.99 up front then $17 a month for 24 months plus a $10 SIM starter kit. I also have been looking at rumors for the Nexus 5 and could also wait for that. Then of course I could also get a Nexus 7 tablet. Just so everyone knows I like smaller devices like the iPod Touch. Someone help me decide.

Google music introduced unlimited song downloads for 10 a month. My girlfriend has iTunes and is part of iOS, and if you get this service you won't miss iTunes music much. You'll just need to get use to a different software.

I personally prefer spotify over Google music, but mainly because they're organize songs into moods and themes much better that Google.

I'm currently having the same problem, I would say go for it and buy a nexus 4, but there's one huge problem - whilst the phone is excellent and would be good for the next 3 years, its lack of 4g ability ages the phone and will render it old in 2 years. I wouldn't be surprised to see networks start dismantling 3g transmitters in the next few years in areas where 4g is available as it will be more infrequently used. So for that reason, I will have to advise a nexus 5. The nexus 7 is amazing but I feel the market for tablets is decreasing as more and more people buy 5"+ phones. I love my nexus 7, but it will probably become mostly redundant to me within a year...

You really think that 3g will disappear in a few years? I'm not convinced it will be that quick. I didn't find LTE all that exciting and many places won't have it for years. Technology does change quickly though.

Well the eBay bidding fell through and now I've decided to wait until the Nexus 5 comes out to compare buy it now prices for a new Nexus 4 on eBay to a new Nexus 5 through Google Play Store. Right now the cheapest 16 GB Nexus 4 on eBay is $329 so if the price doesn't drop below $300 I will just buy a 16 GB Nexus 5. Unless of course the rumored LTE Nexus 4 becomes a reality. If it does I will get one of those.

HSPA is going to be available for another decade. Heck, EDGE is still in use across most of the country.

Getting rid of itunes was one of the best things I did on my laptop. I find that having your music stored in the cloud, automatically synced between devices is pretty awesome. I can listen to my music anywhere, home or work or on the go. And also because I am a music-nazi I can even play my music when I go at friends' places ;-) It might be a problem at home if your internet connection is weak, but I have quite a few songs downloaded on my phone for offline playing (about 8GB).

Anyway, I don't even use my laptop any more now that I have a chromebook.. I guess I'm a cloud enthusiast.

I am not clear what is your main app and budget. I like the n4 for the price point but isn't there some offer at "carport" buy an n5 and get a free n7. Sounds like a good deal. I am in my mid 40s and I am starting to need bigger screens for my vision. Ah I wish I was young again.

Finally decided on a Nexus 4 16 GB. Can't wait for it to arrive and it looks like Kit Kat 4.4 will be available in a couple weeks according to Google.

CAVEAT EMPTOR

You should be very skeptical of the legitimacy/safety of dealing with any site offering new Nexus product for less than what Google is asking, and doubly so when they only accept orders by telephone, and triply so when you add the fact that that site was created less than 2 weeks ago (11/7/13). If those aren't enough reasons for caution, the site is registered to a "Joe Delivery" (seriously?) at a street address in NY that doesn't exist.

Now I'm not saying it couldn't be legit, but as the saying goes, if it seems too good to be true...
