Should I buy the new shield k1?

Hey guys,

I've been looking at this tablet for a while (I remember when it used to have a stylus ), but I've been at odds at whether to buy it or not.

My main concern is whether I'd really use it. At the moment, I only really see myself using a tablet to read books and comics (hence why just a Kindle wouldn't do). But my inner tech nerd loves (read:needs) that the tablet be speedy, quick on updates and just a beauty to look at (design and screen wise).

So whaddya think? Should I get one?

Just to mention, I plan on getting this with a 32 gb SD card (a 128gb card brings this waaay outta my budget) , so putting that all together and adding on shipping and tax charges relevant to my country, the total cost comes to $253.81. Also, since I'm importing it, this tablet is not available here, so that means no support after purchase.

If you need it, and/or want it, and have the money to spend then get it. Otherwise, consider waiting until you are ready to purchase it.

Thanks for the comment srkmagnus, but you see, the only use I see myself as having for a tablet is to read (books and comics), hence its difficult to justify such a price tag to myself. (No matter how much I want this Android powerhouse). I don't game on android very much, even when I do it's not for very long and everything else I feel as though I can achieve it on a PC or a phone.

But, I do know that reading the aforementioned items on my phone is a bit annoying. (It's far too small). And I can't read it on my computer while lying down (which is where is do pretty much all my reading). So, my other choice here, which I forgot to mention above, is the Nexus 7 (2013). I can get the 16GB version of that for about $154.49.

I'm thinking these may be a better option than any of the other Kindle Fire tablets (like the Fire 7" and the Fire HD 8) out there. Though they are super cheap and pretty much do the job I want, I'm afraid they'll be dreadfully sluggish and the low resolutions would hurt the reading experience, particularly with comics.

So my new question is, I guess, what do you guys think? Have you used one of the tablets mentioned above (for reading and stuff) and which should I put my money on?

I personally think you need a minimum of an 8" screen to read comic books easily on a tablet. I currently have a Samsung Pro 8.4", which I just found out is not getting upgraded anymore, boo. However, reading comics on it has been nice.
