Should I exchange?

Hello, I just received my new One and noticed something strange. The screen is not flush with the top speaker grill and I can feel the glass edge slightly when I swipe my finger across. Is this normal or should I get it exchanged?

Not being a smart-a** here, Chris, but ask yourself: Does it REALLY bother me? You're the only one who is going to notice it. If it really DOES bother you, get it changed. If it's really not that big of a deal, live with it.

When I read your post, I actually got my phone out and felt the same thing on mine. The top glass edge is just a hair out from the speaker grill, whereas the bottom one is perfectly flush. Hasn't bothered me for 14 days, so I doubt it's going to bother me tomorrow! :)

Either way, enjoy your new phone!

Cheers!

Just to add - mine is exactly the same - glass slightly about the top speaker, flush at the bottom. Doesn't bother me personally.

mine is "slightly" too...remember its just a phone and a man made product. I know its hard when you have been waiting or looking forward to it, but in the end if it doesn't effect the performance, try to not think about it. If its driving you crazy, ya return it, but remember you may get one with corners all messed up or just have the same issue.

Exchange it if you don't like it.

I agree. I got another One today after reviewing the S4 for the last few weeks and it has the same thing you're describing. As did my previous One. There's no issue with exchanging it if it bothers you.

Yup this is always my mentality. These companies are here to service me when I give them my money, I don't need to keel over for them. I know it sounds stingy, but the consequence of not complaining to these companies about their flaws end up being crappier and crappier products, and we don't want that.

It's unfortunate that it seems to be a persistent issue. I'm not making excuses for them, but I'm sure the manufacturing process to make these isn't exactly easy. That said, there are people who don't have these issues on their phones, so it's not unreasonable to want to exchange to get the same thing.

OK, now it gets even BETTER! I was taking my silver one in today to exchange for the black one. (They didn't have black in, two weeks ago, when I bought my phones.) I knew it was going to cost me a $35 dollar restock fee, but I really wanted the black one. When I got to the ATT store, I showed my manager my phone and said "Feel that; the glass is not flush with the speaker grill, as it is on the bottom." He reaches into his pocket, pulls out his One, and says "Yep. Mine is perfectly flush; this one isn't. Defective!" As in, no charge for exchanging!

I owe you, Chris. Not a million bucks, but a drink, at least!!!:D

Save for the dialogue, I had the same experience. Exchanged for the Stealth Black with no gaps or issues with the screen not being flush with the grille.

If it does not bother you then no if it does then yes exchange it. Mine is like that just a little and have paid no attention to it at all. This is something you will have to decide for yourself because we can't know how you feel about it. Give it a few days and if it still bothers you, you have your answer.

For YOU, sure do an exchange. It seems to bother you enough, but just look out that the new one you might receive may have the same issue.

There's zero wrong with being irritated that you catch your finger on the top of the display everytime you pull down the notification menu. It shouldn't be that way and others (myself included) don't have that issue after exchanging.

If it bothers exchange. Besides i guess that if lots of people exchange their phones then HTC have to be more carefull with quality issues next time...

HTC should go the Apple route and just supply a case to the affected phones. Mine has it but since I have a case on it anyway its out of sight and out of mind. To be honest I never would have noticed it if people weren't mentioning it.
