Should I get a new phone NOW or wait till new ones come out?

How come maxx don't get as many updates? Don't Google own motorola?
But it is a Verizon Droid branded device. That means Motorola has to work closely with Verizon before it pushes an update because of all of the Verizon bloatware. Same with the Verizon Moto X, but since it has less Verizon branding because it is not a Droid, it gets the updates quicker.

I think the Droid Maxx has 4.4 now, which barely any other phones have at this point. So it's still been updated quickly. It just hasn't been as quickly updated as the Moto X, which was updated insanely fast. Motorola is becoming really committed towards updating their phones now, too, since they realize that customers want those updates. That's one of the reasons their phones are so close to stock and get their features updated through Google Play. Time will tell how quickly they will continue to update, but I feel optimistic about their ability to update their phones quickly given the steps they've been taking lately.

Have you used the G2?

Yes I have. I went on a road trip with a few buddies and one of them has the G2. It only outlasted my Ultra by a couple of hours...nowhere near what a MAXX gets.

If you'll see my previous post, I stated that my husband's Maxx and my Ultra have 4.4. We've had it since early December. So yes, the Droid phones are getting updates pretty quickly. The Motorola acquisition by Google has benefited the Droid phones as well as the Moto X.

When you will ever need that much battery though? :p

I am right now poking around looking for an external battery, because I'm heading out, and I'm not sure my Moto X will make it through the day. I would love to have a lot more battery life. I've misplaced the external battery pack, though, so maybe I'll bring a charger, and feel like a dork when I ask a friend to plug my phone in at his house.

Well I'm not sure what you're doing with your phone but I rarely use it for more than 4 hours a day. And I know it can get me almost 7 hours if I need it

So I am an owner of Droid Maxx HD and i have ran into a couple of problems that needs to be fixed. Problem is I am off of the verizon warranty BUT motorola warranty still in effect so I would ship my device over to Motorola with no loaner... I have a couple of options i see that are feasible (more suggestions would be welcome!)
1. get a new phone - I am currently interested in the new Maxx, Note 3 and HTC One Max
2. a bit shady but.... express mail my phone to motorola, get a new phone and hope i can get my phone back within 14 days so i can just pay restock fee of new phone..

I am leaning towards 1 but is now a good time though? Arent there some awesome phones coming up? If you think i should go with 1... any recommendation on which device? I got maxx hd for the battery.. but the new maxx doesn't seem to get much love though?

thanks!

Yup, your number 1 should be the way to go. On what new phone to get, I say get the one the turns you on.. what turns me on, might not turn you on.. :D everybody is going to tell you to get the phone that turns THEM on.. Might not be the right one for you.. but, we all are together on getting a new phone..Nothing like it.. :D

They are extremely different phones. The Note 3 is going to be very different from what you are used to with the Droid Razr Maxx HD. And if you are looking at specs, then you are looking at Motorola phones in the wrong way. Motorola is not playing the specs game. The specs of their phones may seem "worse" than others, but the actual performance of their phones is better than many of the other flagships. MORE CORES doesn't always mean a better phone.

Personally, I wouldn't touch a Note 3. I think Samsung phones are garbage, especially after having owned one and knowing others who have owned them. But that's my experience.

:D :D :D :D :D

ok so i finally got the droid maxx... It was a bit depressing seeing there was no accessories for it at bestbuy (or verizon).... it seems like a Samsung+Apple world out there man :(.

Well, first off, the Droid Maxx is a verizon exclusive as is any Droid branded phone so that right there limits the units sold.

Moreover, Motorola released 5 smartphones last year and likely will release the same amount next year. Then there is HTC and LG. Since the profits depend on sales volume, how can accessory manufacturers make a profit if the android market has so many new phones released every year? They need volume sales to make it worth their design and manufacturing effort and since only the Samsung and Apple phones sell in large volumes, that is what you get.

Verizon does carry some accessories. That's where my sister got the case for her Droid Maxx. You can also order accessories from Motorola or various other online vendors.

Good luck with the phone. I think you'll really enjoy it.

Check the Shopandroid link at the top of this site. There's plenty of accessories for the MAXX. And congrats, you'll love the phone.

I personally hate Motorola now. But if I were you and really wanted a Motorola, I would've gotten the Moto X.
