Should I let the glittery uninformed lit screens that some people have received put me off?

People describe it as grainy outside the light uniformity issues.

What should I do? Did they fix it?

There have been a few discussions about it already.

If I remember correctly (questionable), the consensus was that the pre-production issues seem to have been resolved. My V30 does not have those problems.

That's not true. It's a panel lottery like the Pixel 2 Xl since they're both made by LG. You either get lucky and get a good screen, or you don't.

Yes some Pixel 2 xls have the same uneven brightness issues that the op if taking about. Here's a quick link I pulled off Google https://www.reddit.com/r/Android/co...lysis/?utm_source=amp&utm_medium=comment_list.

There's also quite a few people in Reddit talking about graininess in the Pixel screens. LG made both displays, so it would stand to reason that they'd share similar issues, which people have been proving since release of both.

For what its worth. I just got my V30 yesterday. It does have a very slight blue shift when tilted. However it is less than my Pixel 2 XL which I got last week. But none bother me. I dont use my device on a angle anyway.

From that perspective, everything is a lottery.

The nature of mass production is that there is going to be some lemons that slip through the QC process. This becomes a problem only when the numbers of bad units get above the expected limits. For example the G4 bootloop problem.

I meant on a mass scale for the Pixel 2 XL.
Any phone is a risk and not just for screens if you peruse all the forums.

IMHO the screen issues have been beaten to death. My phone is a launch unit and the screen is perfect. I had a Galaxy S7 Edge which was supposed to have the best display and I actually prefer the V30. It's not as over-saturated as the Samsung screen was, auto actually dims appropriately, the S7 was always too bright on auto. Don't let the "screen issues" stop you from getting a great phone.
