Should I return? (Handset speaker)

Bought galaxy nexus yesterday and as soon as I tried making a phone call I was disappointed (love everything else about it including google wallet!) All I can hear when on the phone is a tin can/electronically altered voice. It is difficult to hear well.

Before I swap for a new one (re-lock phone > drive to vzw > get new one > unlock > root, etc., etc.) I wanted to make sure that this is not normal. Does anybody else have problems with sound quality only on "normal" phone speaker (can't think of what to call it.)

Sounds like you've got a faulty one. I would prepare for return and test another functioning unit before you go through with the return.

Returned. It was a bad one. New one is perfectly clear. Thanks for the replies!

Verizon rep was a little difficult to get to return it though "I don't hear any crackling...." Yes but can you even understand my voice?
