Two different classes of phones. Once you go with the phablets, it's hard to go back. I went with the One and S4 after the Note 2...And I couldn't wait to get on the Note 3. Be careful.

You left out the biggest and most the important difference,,, the camera on the S5 looks to be a major upgrade from the S4 and Note 3,,, the camera is one of the main reasons myself and most others are considering the S5.

If camera quality is the biggest and most important thing to you, other than it being a phone, why don't you use the original Moto Razor as a phone and carry around a DSLR for picture taking? Makes sense right? Besides, people that buy a phone just for the camera specs alone are insane.

People who buy smart phones because of the camera are idiots. Plain idiots.
Buy a freaking DSLR to take pictures.
I bought a Nikon D7100 for taking pictures. Smart phones will never match a DSLR in photo quality and ability.

Jeez man, take a breath and calm down. No need for the personal attacks. Not everyone can afford a DSLR AND an expensive smartphone. And most people who can afford both, I imagine, don't carry their DSLRs around with them 24/7. Considering the quality of the camera when choosing a smartphone is perfectly logical.
Also, I'm pretty sure no one is or was comparing a smartphone camera to a DSLR...

No, it's not that. It's the fact that people would turn down, curse, throw hissies, badmouth, and down right blow a gasket just because a manufacturer didn't include certain features. You know the ones I'm talking about.

Plain better? can i get some of what your smoking? There is obvious pros and cons for both phones and reasons why the note 3 or s5 is a "Better" phone. I like the bigger screen on the note 3 so that alone makes it a "Better phone" ( for me). The S5 has a fingerprint scanner and heartbeat monitor so what? I wouldn't be using it. Now you want to get what really makes a phone "Better" in technical stand point the s5 has a minor ( and i mean minor) Upgraded cpu the snapdragon 801 clocked at 2.5 GHZ. It also only has 2GB of ram and base model ( also the only one you can pre-order) is 16GB ( available space i would guess around 10GB if you're lucky ). The Note 3 has a snapdragon 800 cpu clocked at 2.3 GHZ, 3GB of Ram ( the real winner here) and 32GB of storage (as the base model) with 25GB of space available.
Both phones are good but the S5 is NOT "plain better" like you suggest

Can that DSLR fit in my pocket? No? Do i need a DSLR to take facebook pics? No? Do i want to just take quick shots of my niece and surrondings? Yes? smartphone camera trumps the DSLR in my pocket test, Facebook usage, and quick shots.
Yes DSLR's are better cameras but if you just want to take selfies ( i dont see the point of those ...lol) , Facebook photos, or quick easy shots cameras on smartphones are great for those

I have had the m8 since it came out now and I have to say I love it the build quality is amazing and i personally think htc sense is so much better than touch wiz.

What it really comes down to is which carrier you are on, and when they will release it. If you are on Verizon then who knows, if you are on AT&T, Sprint and want a 32GB version you will either have to wait months or never see one (Sprint is the issue there).
I have a feeling Verizon is not saying anything about the S5 until the 2 week windows passes on the HTC One M8 so they don't have buyers returning for the S5. Either way the S5 16GB will come first then a month or two later the 32GB so I got the Note 3 which is actually not a big phone until you put a case on it then it gets bulky. I just don't care for going caseless.

Well I guess I'm insane then because "the camera" plays very much into which phone I purchase,,,,, and I guess a very large amount of others are insane as well as point and shoot camera sales everywhere are dropping to almost zero.
My friends at Best Buy and other stores tell me they are seeing a huge dramatic drop in camera sales because of smartphone camera's, common sense already told me that was the case, but hearing how really bad camera sales are directly from the retailers was even worse than I had thought.
I do have a DSLR but I can't seem to fit it in my pocket.
