I've had this phone for about 3 weeks, and love it except for the battery life. I am considering returning it and getting the Evo Lte. Should I?

Noooo way. Getting an extended battery would be better.

I had the same problem. The phone is great, but the battery does suck. I found that turning off data helped a lot. But I didn't like the idea of keeping it off all the time. I looked into the app JuiceDefend. I went ahead and got the plus version of it and have it running on the aggressive profile. Its working great. Right now I am at 16h 17m with 18% left. Still not the best life any of us would really like, but it works great for me. I like the idea that it will turn off the data for me when the screen is off, but turn it on every 30 minutes on the aggressive profile to still get my push notifications (email, facebook, etc). But then it will turn it back on when I wake up and unlock the phone.

I have juice defender but its not enough. I'm considering the seidio battery but I don't like the bulk.

The battery life on this phone makes me sad.

I'm running a custom kernel (Trinity) with SetCPU. I used Juice Defender for a bit but I stopped getting twitter notifications. I think I'm gonna buy the plus version cause when I used both SetCPU and JD, I got about 20 hours of battery life!!

I have got the seidio extended battery on my phone and I average at least 2 days out of it.

Always stick with Nexus. As stated above, extended batteries will help a lot. As will Juice Defender Plus. Let us know what you think and what you decide to do.

If you don't mind telling us, what are the specific settings on SetCPU that you are running for good battery life?

Thanks.

I don't know if you're going going to get much better battery life with the Evo. The Evo battery is a little bigger than the GNex, but not much (2000mAh vs 1850mAh). I doubt you see a huge difference.

I think I am going to stick the Nexus. But I would think the Evo might have better battery life because it is a LCD instead of Amoled?

Make sure your LTE radio is off if you are in an area without LTE service. That thing sucks battery like they are going out of style.

I've done a lot of tricks and well I am sticking with the gnex, I just flashed an aosp ROM and battery life is greatly improved.

I updated to Maddoggin's JB15 ROM (didn't flash a kernel this time) and am using JD. I'm getting twitter notifications now and battery life is still awesome. I'll report back with battery life results.

I read the article (link below) yesterday- hopefully this turns out to be true!

From the article, "Come this Sunday, Sprint will be giving away official Samsung extended batteries for the Galaxy Nexus — no strings attached — through the phone via telesales. Here’s some of the details:

May be offered proactively
Offer good while supplies last
Available to new and existing customers (no purchase necessary)
Customer must enter promo code at checkout if buying online
No promo code needed if ordering through telesales
Customers will only be responsible for paying shipping charges

The offer is only good while supplies last.

Again, I do NOT know if this is true - just sharing what I read :)

I posted earlier in this forum about terrible battery life. So what I did was this, twice I let my phone run empty. And I mean empty to the point of taking he battery out and turning it on and it would shut off right after he reboot screen. Do that until it won't turn on anymore. Charge it for 8 hours unplugged (at least) and watch the battery life improve.

Seriously, I had my phone on with moderate use (I have 2 Twitter clients, 6 Gmail and Corporate mail accounts, 2 Facebook accounts, Instagram and G+) and after 2hrs 33mins I was at 84%. By almost 5 hours I was at 56%. By 7 hours it dropped a lot down to 33%. And that was with full brightness, however, I was using Wifi and when this phone searches for signal it KILLS the battery.

Good luck, but I would HIGHLY recommend recalibrating your battery like in suggested at least twice. And try not to leave it plugged in all day the more you use the battery the better its memory and usage lasts.

On the 19th, this Sunday sprint is providing all galaxy nexus owners on sprint with free extended life batteries. If you call sprint you WILlL NOT need the promotion code. This sale goes on until stock runs out. I'm not sure who supplies batteries but once they run out of stock sale is over. YOU WILL have to PAY shipping! I will attempt to get sprint to waive fee!
