The Camera is horrible on the M8. My daughter has one. She can not wait to upgrade to a Note 5 or the S6. That would be the biggest mistake you would ever make Note 4 is far superior.

The camera is great on my M8 but you have to know how to use it. It takes better pictures in low light than my wife's IPhone.

What do you have to do?

Just look at the reviews about the M8 camera for yourself. The best thing about the M8 is the sound. The camera suck on the M8 got even worst after the Lollipop update. The camera on the Note 4 is far better than the M8.

The camera on the M8 is fine. Daylight shots are great and night shots are bright. Duo effects are interesting. The reviews are all a bunch of tech nerds complaining that it's "only" 4 megapixels. The actual image quality is good. There's even an anti-shake mode if you can't keep your hands steady.

The camera is what you make of it. I think it takes far superior pics than my mate's Note 3 in terms of color clarity and overall image quality for my uses. Sure I give up some zoom and large printing abilities, but I didn't care about that. I'm happy being able to make good 8X10 prints off my regular photo printer at home if I ever want. Most of my pics are just shared on fb and via mms (which compresses any high res image anyway). The low light abilities are a plus, and the duo effects are a nice bonus I like to play with.

Long story short, don't just look at reviews, look for reviews that are both for and against it, look at the photos thread here, and even check out a demo in person. Then decide if it's worth it for you.

The rest of the phone has been pretty much rock solid overall.

Please stop. You aren't posting from experience, and this is an entire forum full of M8 owners who are disagreeing with you. You are of course entitled to your own opinion but spreading misinformation about a great phone is really pointless.

The M8 camera is not NEARLY as bad as some people say it is. People look at the 4MP rating on the camera and immediately disregard the actual quality of it. I've had no negative experiences from my camera and while I don't use it very frequently I can't complain about it at all. It's up to individual preference, and disregarding the phone because you don't like the camera seems silly. If you need a great camera, buy one.

First let me apologize for the way I first came off. I bought my daughter the M8 because of it build quality and the pictures it was suppose to take. It takes great low light pictures but other then that it would take blurred picks. I worked with to try to make it better and it worked for awhile. Had to use another camera app to get it to work better. After the Lollipop update it just got bad again. Teenagers and their phones! So many selfies. That said I am only going from experience with my daughters M8. Again sorry.

I will concede there's an issue with a lens coating that's easily scratched on the rear camera, but it's also easily removed completely (there's a rather lengthy thread here about various solutions). The scratched coating can result in blurry pics, but removing it brings it back to crystal clear. If that's not the issue in your case, then it sounds like you have either a hardware or software defect.

Ok, I went ahead and traded. I have to disagree with the camera argument, it looks fine to my eyes, and the effects are killer. I'd like to add something else, this phones performance is much better than the note 4 from my experience so far. Much, much faster and easier to use. Battery life? Not impressed so far.

If you're having battery life issues, we would be happy to try and help you sort through them. Personally I've had fantastic battery life with moderate to heavy use and never go below 50% after a very long (~15 hours) day away from home.

I'm not sure if its an issue, I'm I'm just not used to it. Maybe I'm just using it a lot.

So what's the big deal about the camera, it looks pretty good to me.

It looks pretty good to me, too. Like I said before, too many people who say the camera is poor quality have never actually used it.
