I too am wondering if it's time to plunge in. I never accepted the 4.06 build 87.8 meg update, never saw the first 4.08 8 meg update and followed all the threads here and elsewhere about all the grief.

But starting yesterday I'm getting a notice for a 4.08.605.2 build 87.7 meg update.
I'm going to wait until I see more posts of successful updates with this build.

So far I've only seen one,

i am on 2.2 still and maybe i am glad of that after seeing all this trouble! I have tried to install the 4.08 large update to no avail. I am just about tired of trying. Might leave this phone be and i think the wife won't even know.:-\

I got the 4.08 about a week ago. Installed without a hitch. Haven't had one issue. Phone is way smoother and boot up is impressively fast.
