i think it has to do with the screen resolution but it will have an update soon enough. my screen doesn't get hot but the back part of the phone heats up a little from playing games. i just take breaks since i don't play often. battery life is good but my second g2 has been a little worse about the battery not lasting as long. i think it needs a few more cycles to settle in. all in all the g3 is a great phone. not much lag like the s5. i cant speak much about the moto x but i know its the closes thing you can get to stock firmware.
