Believe it or not, that was a blessing. Because of it my wife talked me into just selling off my little business and staying closer to home. I managed to sell it off to someone who has been interested in a while a week before the Toyota recall crap came up and made it an even bigger headache that nobody would want

Wow, they almost did Flipz and his new release... TWICE! People are just being retarded this weekend.

Flipz asked donors not to release or share the new 2.1 ROM until he made it public and today, 2 people were already uploading and sharing ROMs based off the new .29 kernel.

Well apparently, Toast will also leave the scene.

Edit: we almost did. Some guy was gonna release a Fresh 2.0 based ROM, the thing is that Flipz (Fresh dev) asked for early beta testers not to release his work before him, lo and behold, a guy was already uploading it. Toast got mad and said he was quitting, but then he came and said that he wouldnt leave "his boyz".

Personally, I like open beta testing once i know something will flash, so I'm not into the "only certain people get to download" thing. But Flipz ain't me People should have respected his wishes. He needs to only release bug fixes via email until he's finished so he has some control over what goes out...that'll fix em lol.

And it looks like the Hero dev community is starting to turn into the G1 community. That's a shame. I'm on another xda break, that place drives me crazy lol.

I have always used ur ROMS & kernels on my Hero, and really wud miss u lots and lots Gbhil ! I have never posted coz i never found any problems wid ur ROM ... now is the real problem.. u r going, so i jus registered to say thank you and miss u !!!

I think the whole closed beta thing is what really mess things up.. Just because they donated dont mean they should get the rom first. They could have attentions on messing your whole rep up. If its a senior member of the site and he or she have donated to the site should get the rom.. I know not all of us can dev roms. but at least those that show respect to the devs

Sorry to hear about this, gbhil. Your ROM was the only one that was able to convince my phone to run at a useable speed for a long period of time. I was really looking forward to what you would do after the update. Still, I respect your decision, and am very grateful that you've decided to take the time to write up a how-to for all of those would-be kernel devs. If I had time, I'd be very interested in working on something like this myself.

Weird... I just posted to this thread but it's not showing up. Anyway I just wanted to drop a line and say thanks for all your hard work and continuing efforts gbhil. Without all your tutorials and very easy to read explanations of how this stuff works I wouldn't know half of the stuff about android that I do today. Thank you so much! Btw gumbo ROM is the only ROM that I love and I use your kernels too
