. . it looks real old; could hardly walk down the bank 10 ft to get a drink; then took it a long time to get back up to this spot; our movement doesn't alarm it; wondering if its vision & hearing have failed, and it's just wanting a warm place in the Sun to lay down and die. =((

Well, the cicadas are here. So far everything is quiet here in NC around our neighborhood, but it will not stay like this for very long. 12MP with 10x optical, and resized it to 1920x1080 to fit my monitor.

A few sightings while sipping morning coffee:


. . the mother is one of our resident deer's that comes by our property everyday to forage through the vegetable garden salad bars, drink from the creek, and do a thorough 'Stanley Steemer' job of vacuuming out our bird feeders! Bless her heart.
We call her 'Honey'.
She had two beautiful twin fawn does last year, that I noticed were wandering around thru our property today by themselves, for the first time ever —as my home office windows face out towards the rear of our property, where a creek runs through it— so perhaps they're finally getting the idea to move off on their own, perhaps after seeing their Mom give birth to their brand-new little sister/or brother, whose birth they may have witnessed.

And a Rose-Breasted Grosbeak . .

. . and a Mourning Dove in her nest — that she & her hubby made in a Maple tree beside one of our decks — warming her little chick(s?) that I think was/were just born yesterday . . . Just noticed, what I think is a head of a Dove chick —behind that upside-down maple leaf— with an eye showing!
