has anyone really gotten their cameras' lenses scratched?

i've never heard of that before and also have never heard of anyone needing camera covers!

furthermore, has anyone tested lens flare due to that extra piece of glass? lens flare is a huge issue if one uses lower quality lens filters in a conventional camera's lens. these are effectively identical to a lens filter but merely smaller.

a good lens filter for a conventional camera's lens is quite costly, due to many layers of high quality coatings just to reduce lens flare, so this isn't a simple thing to do. folks end up buying Hoya lens filters, or Zeiss, or similar very high quality filters in order to NOT compromise their lenses' performance.

otherwise, it defeats the purpose of a great lens once someone puts something inferior in front of it.

i'm not saying these tiny little covers are inferior, i don't know because i've never read up on them nor researched them, but just mentioning their similarity to conventional lenses' filters and the benefits and pitfalls.

Will cases with precise cutouts work with these camera protectors?

If no one else posts sooner, I can this evening. I have the ESR lens covers and 3 cases with the cut outs. 2 samsung and 1 spiegen. Just got the phone yesterday, so I haven't installed protectors yet.

How do you like your ESR back camera protection? I've got the Whitestone Dome one and it's one solid piece. The ESR design seems better as it individually covers each cutout.

The only reason I am entertaining getting them is because of a drop test that I saw where the guy dropped the phone from hip height on the back and the top camera lens completely shattered. With that said, my phone will likely live in a case for the most part and the case will provide the protection I need

I haven't installed them yet. I love the way they look though. A poster above has the chrome ones on a white phone and they look awesome. I tried the solid piece ones on my Note and they caused a weird lighting. High hopes for these ESRs.

That would be fantastic. My phone and UAG case should be here today and the ESR protectors on Saturday.
I'll also post up on Saturday and let everyone know it they fit OK with the UAG case.

It's possible since there's a tiny gap in between the cutout but it would be cutting it close on the left side lenses. Would love to find out since I was looking to get the UAG civilian case.

It would be a tight fit for sure. There seems to be about 1 mm gap between the camera housing and the edge of the cutouts, looking specifically at the periscope zoom lens at the bottom.

Ok understood, let me know how it goes applying them. I just ordered a set on Amazon for $16.99. Getting a little worried that my Whitestone Dome camera protector doesn't actually cover the glass like the ESR one does. Plus I really like how the ESR one is five separate pieces and is less bulky. Had some issues putting my Speck case back on after applying the Whitestone Dome one. The Whitestone Dome one was only $11, so not a huge loss. Will keep it as a back-up. Trial and error!

Good to hear you ordered the ESR camera protection as well!

I have the Whitestone one on my iPhone 13PM and it does look good. I also ordered the same one for the S22 Ultra but this protector will be useless on cases with precise cutouts. I just ordered the ESR ones so both will be here on Saturday.

Here is what the Whitestone ones look like on my iPhone:

Here's my starter case. I usually get a fancy leather case with straps and crossbody and card holder. But that takes weeks or months to arrive. So I found this little case that seems to be a good case to tide me over.

may i ask if anyone has tried the Spigen Air Skin?

i'm hoping that someone has experience with the Air Skin for an older phone and can opine on how that case is.

thanks.

Now that my other case came in, I don't know which I like better! What do y'all think?

Agree with your assessment on the design of the Whitestone Dome back camera back protector. It doesn't even fit properly with my Speck Presidio 2 Grip case.

Good call on ordering the ESR back camera protection! I did the same earlier today.

I like Glitter but both are good looking...you got yourself a swap situation . alternate them for sure

Oh the look on that guy's face when he heard the crunch...

I'll admit, that test was jarring to watch... Made me make sure the case was secure before I even took the phone off the table

I thought for sure I was going to like the Otterbox symmetry better than the liquid glitter crystal, but I actually like them both equally maybe the crystal glitter a little more.
