Shure se215 iPhone bundle compatibility

Looking at these as second set of earphones for my rezound. I need to know if the iPhone controls are compatible. Many thanks.

The mic and play button will work, but the volume up/down buttons probably won't work, at least they didn't on the s5i that I bought for $36.

So far it seems that the volume controls are lacking across the board for Android users. Pretty frustrating that only iPhone users get total functionality.

Guess I'll keep looking unless someone here can tell me if volume control is even possible on Android devices.
