Siap Bionic display

Since thread is about the Bionic display...does anybody know how this screen will react outdoors, in the sun? I read that the Super Amoled displays were hard to read outdoors...my Storm2 is very easy to ready, as I know the iPhone's is easy to read outdoors - any thoughts on the Bionic? Thanks!

I think it's hard to say without any real world results or testing on it. SAMOLED displays definitely aren't perfect, but they're surely better (at least IMO) than LCD when it comes to direct sunlight. Unfortunately, higher resolution doesn't mean it'll be better in sunlight.

It's an existing technology, but it's listed as a qHD display. As far as phones go, I think this is the first one to have such a display. I might be wrong, though.

Yup. The SAMOLED displays suck up sunlight like its nobody's business. IPS displays would come second to SAMOLED, and LCDs would be a distant third. (going from a SAMOLED to a SLCD is painful, since the SLCD reflects EVERYTHING)

It's technically LCD technology. qHD stands for "Quarter HD".

It can also mean "Quadruple High Defitinion" but that's only at resolutions of 3840 x 2160 or higher.

Correct me if im wrong , but Motorola never said who Designed qHD screens or who is making them , right ?

It's made by Samsung. qHD is based off of the PenTile matrix family, which is owned by Samsung.

LG makes the Retina display, not Samsung.

We're not entirely sure yet. What we've seen was from the very brief looks we got at CES and such.

That's because AMOLED displays (note: NOT SAMOLED or SAMOLED+) suck hardcore. Their clarity is awful and color reproduction is the worst I've ever seen. It remains to be seen what this screen will be like since its not an OLED display.
