Of this xoom not being able to read and write to the sdcard. So dumb and stupid. An update should have fixed it by now.

Thinking of a switch to Asus

Yes so the update for everyone will be out soon. As stated root and rom it. I had read/write forever.

Correct me if I am wrong but I thought I read somewhere that 3.2.2 which the 4G Xoom's ship back with have full read/write access to the SD card.

Edit: Found the article. XOOM 4G LTE Upgrade Includes Android 3.2.2, Introduces SD Read/Write Support - Droid Life: A Droid Community Blog

That's a good sign, I have the WiFi only version thou. Hopefully it will be in the 3.2.2 for it as well. Can't see why not.

Ok so what is the best Root n tooting version for go rooting. I do not need a special Rom but if you are so inclined add that as an answer as well to which ROM you like as well.

I am sick and tired of Motorola's games. The ridiculous delay's in starting our upgrades to 4G LTE and now waiting for my device to be returned to me. The thing has sat somewhere at Motorola since 10/5 with it's upgrade.

No offense to all the root/rom people, but I shouldn't have to. This is part of the advertised package, I should not have to hack my own computer to get it to work. It just should.

Totally understand but the advertised package at launch was with SD support coming. Just took a long time. Its here now. Reports of ota updates today.

I know, I just get tired of hearing that "you can just root it", when that hasn't been the case for me. I tried to root it, and stick an OC rom on it, I really did.

But after I did, I couldn't use the wifi. So I had to go back to where it once was, which wasn't exactly optimal for me.

Anyway, I'm glad that we're finally going to be able to use all of the pieces of the machine we bought. Let's just hope that ICS makes the experience even better.

I think my XOOM is hanging out with yours! Mine also says shipped on 10/5 but NO tracking number. Funny thing is, they sent me a survey today regarding my experience. I might have given Motorola high marks if they would have SHIPPED ME MY XOOM back.

Hopefully someone reads the survey feedback, @Motorola on Twitter sure doesn't care

I received the same emails, their site says it shipped on the 5th and I received the survey. I just called and was transferred to the repair dept and told that it would ship on the 14th. After raising hell with her she kept saying "i'm sorry we will send you and email when it ships" where I kept saying "I already received an email saying it shipped", she would respond with "please disregard that email and we will send an updated email when it ships".

The problem is that someone needs to sign for this thing when FedEx delivers it. There is no one here to sign for it and I have to know when it will be delivered so I can take off work to sign for it.

Maybe you have a trustworthy neighbor that stays home during the day and could sign for it. Just leave a note for FED-EX to go to that address.

Not an option, the neighbors I know all work. I wish it were that easy. I work in multiple locations and the offices are not always manned so sending it to a work address wasn't an option either.

Worst case scenario I have to drive the hour to the FedEx hub if I miss the delivery attempt at the house.

Well then. In those extreme cases for me I have it shipped to me work address so I can be there to receive it..

Don't bet on it. I did not have to sign for mine. Dropped it by my door, rang the doorbell and left. They say signature will be required, but I would not lay money either way.

the moto Xoom supported write access to the external sdcard with honeycomb 3.2

The reason you couldn't write to it from within the xoom, is because the app creators for the file managers were lazy and wouldn't use the correct API to enable the write access.

It required media store API, lazy file manager authors ( like file manager HD) used Java API, which moto/Google stated from the very beginning wouldn't work.

Anyways, there is now a stock file manger that does write to the external1 sdcard. Its called 'sdcardx for xoom' you can get it in the android marketplace
