Verizon Galaxy S8 Sideload Device Maintenance apk on Verizon S8?

As we all know (probably) Verizon crippled the Device Maintenance app on our phones. Now that the app has been released on the Play store, has anyone sideloaded it to see if it will overcome what Verizon did? I have the apk, just hesitant to load it.

have you tried downloading samsung plus. it has a device maintaince spot seems to work ok

I have it my Verizon S8 and do not remember downloading it. Go to System and press the three dots in the upper right hand corner and select. View as simplified view. It may then show in the list. The items included are battery, performance and storage.

It shows that it's installed on my Verizon phone but is nowhere to be found

Isn't that cheetah mobile? I don't see any benefit from having it so why sideload it

It appears that Verizon has it but has limited it to battery, performance and storage options that show up as individual settings unless you select the "view as simplified view" in Settings.

Verizon also has memory activated. The ability to disable it is greeted out, force stop is not grayed out. I have not tried to force stop it.
