Sideloading latest update to Pixel 6, got to "reboot" phase and rebooted. This time another "reboot" option came up "cancel, latest update failed to complete". Without thinking I "rebooted" and now have a phone sitting here with a black screen and the word "Google" in bright colors. It has been this way for over an hour and doesn't respond to any button presses.

1st time in this situation - suggestions appreciated.

I recommend you goto the xda developers forums and post there. Russ is up their alley. Good luck.

Yes - now to navigate the forum and post issue.
Okay, let us know when sideloading you always make sure it's a completed and not reboot until you get that successful prompt in the window but I guess you will let us know what happened...

Got suggestions from XDA forum - unfortunately none of them worked and I now have a bricked 6 - lesson learned.

After I realized the phone was dead I decided to take the screen off and see what the inside looked like - many of the tiniest screws I have ever seen.

Seriously? You can't re flash OS ?

It showed nothing under any circumstances -
Very weird ... I mean you just got the phone ..is it possibly defective ? I would've RMA if it didn't revive ..a simple sideload should still allow you to recover it later on ...

I have no one to blame for this situation other than me - I screwed up the sideload and locked up the phone. I accept this - I adapt to it - I move on -

OT - rest of saga -
Cox email was down also so when I tried to register at XDA they couldn't send me a conformation email
Had to register using gmail email which I never use
Wasn't worried about 6 too much - 6P from BB due here today
UPS informed me the 6P will not be here today - no set date as of now
Ordered a 6 from Google Fi - the CC I used will require phone call verification from me
I have no phone

While going through all this I saw a story on the news site that it was the anniversary of the Sandy Hook Massacre - 26 students and teachers killed.

All of a sudden my cell phone didn't seem too important

I totally feel your efforts and pain going through the process. And yes, at the end of the day there are way more important things than just the phone so that I will most certainly agree with you.. I wish I had the phone in front of me. I would have loved to have given it a try. I just feel like in the normal circumstances it should be revived regardless.. Good luck in the next one coming. My friend

You are and honest guy. I would have returned it as not working instead of cracking it open.

I'm on my second pixel 6 pro. First one hard bricked as soon as I updated it just like the op. Had the phone for like 20 minutes. Sent it back for a replacement and second one works great. I side loaded the update on both phones but the first one didn't take for some reason.

Do you recall if it had a "cancel, latest update failed to complete" option, in red, during the process like mine did?
