Hi guys, this is my first time using fourms, so go easy on me.
I have a samsung captivate and i followed this guide to try to enable side loading on my phone. How to Enable Sideloading of Apps on Captivate - Android Forums
When i get to the part where i type in "adb push %userprofile%\desktop\settings.db /sdcard" i get this error:
"failed to copy 'c:\users\davidhuizenga\desktop\settings.db' to '/sdcard': is a directory"
any ideas?
Thanks very much if you can help. :)

Nobody is going to be hard on you here - this is a friendly forum and we have no problem helping our members.

Take a look at our thread about sideloading apps and see if it helps.

Thanks for the link, I already tried that and it works great! But i would like to be able to download and install apps directly from my phone. Any ideas? Thanks!

I also manualy copyed the file over to the directory and it did not change sideloading to working. :(

I recently did the following and Rooting your phone will be required. Also Root Explorer to view edit the Android OS files. Once done you have to go and edit the Settings.db file I used an SQL editor in FF. This can be a little tricky if you do not know what you are doing. Just continue to use SLWM it does the same thing but you will have to use usb.

Yeah, i rooted my phone, and i used the sqlite manager in ff. This is so weird that this is not working for me. I also used the leaked froyo for my captivate if that has anything to do with it.

Did you edit the right line in the Settings.db file Change the 0 to 1 Non Market apps.
