Sigh... not meant to be

I went to the ATT store and checked out the S5 Active. I REALLY like it. The phone is a bit large, but it does fit my hand rather well. Size-wise, it's about the same as what I have now that has a case. This doesn't need a case so the net result is that they are both about the same size.

Dang I want to try it. I priced out a plan and was going to move 3 lines over. Then I checked with my current carrier. BOOM! Early cancellation fees!!!! Also BOOM!!! Poor coverage in a few places I frequent.

Sad day!!!!

Looks like I will have to wait till this handset comes to my carrier and just have envy till then. :-(

Aww, that sucks. What's the benefit of getting the Active over the standard S5?

Sadly... The S5 active is an AT&T exclusive and won't be going to any other carriers .

If memory serves me correctly the active is an AT&T exclusive.. No international version.

You could easily acquire an AT&T s5 Active and unlock it. That shouldn't be a problem... ...of course, you'll be restricted to GSM carriers..

..as far as I'm concerned that's the better of the two.. I've found that the CDMA version Samsung phones are China made as opposed to the superior Korean made GSM phones...

Of course I really don't know if that's the case, it just appeared that way to me..

An international version would likely be GSM only. So no Verizon or Sprint

Active has both IP67 and MIL-STD 810G certs. I do a lot of Search and Rescue stuff. I like this phone's native capabilities WITHOUT having to get a bulky case. Also, I ride bikes a lot and right now, put my phone in a ziplock bag when I go on rides so I don't sweat-ify it.

I'm on Verizon.
