Sigh.. One plus pro 7 weight

If you use your pinkie to prop up the phone in your hand, yes a heavier phone can strain your hand and give you an RSI.

If you hold your phone at eye level so you're not straining your neck to look down, it could wear out your arm, too, but that's less of an issue when you sit down and can prop the phone up on a table (or at least prop your elbows on the table).

It's not going to strain your back or arm instantly like lifting a truck tire would, it's a slow cumulative thing over years and years of heavy use. When I don't use a phone grip on my devices, my left pinky gets mad at me by the end of the day because I inadvertently pinky prop.

Most of those are just usability issues that have nothing to do with the weight. Such as the looking down thing.. you could do that with ANY phone or hell even a book so the weight of the phone doesn't instantly cause that.

Still disagree this phone is going to cause someone harm... unless like I said before they have some actual other issues going on.

Exactly . It's a slow cumulative effect . I'm talking about holding these phones everyday for years and you'll see when what it does to you when you're older.

And that could happen with ANY phone -- not just this one so saying this is the one to cause damage is weird to me.

You are changing your tune from "This phone will cause damage due to its weight" to "Phones cause health problems" -- pick your argument. You are swapping to the latter now whereas before you were specific on this phone and this weight...

Because of the dimension or weight this phone will speed up that process .

Anyways just go hold it. I did and it was uncomfortable to use. Just my opinion.

Oh I am not disputing it being uncomfortable. Some find the rounded screens on a Samsung uncomfortable. Comfortable is 100% a person to person thing.

I was simply saying I disagree on this specific phone and weight is instantly going to cause mass issues with people's health which seems to be right since most of the pushback I am receiving is about phones in general and not this specific one.

Wait (ha) a minute? Now heavier-than-average phones cause health issues? Pretty sure that the effects are extremely minor and it depends on how you hold your phone...just my opinion. Unless your phone is a total unit like that Energizer one. I quite like how phones now are slightly curved around the sides or even back and how the sides blend into the display, it makes them much easier and comfortable to hold.

While I do have concerns about some phones I’m tempted by such as the S9+ or 3a XL about the size, the key thing for me is width. I’m not saying that 21:9 is the best, because that’s way too tall but as long as the phone is around 74mm wide or less I’m fine.

162.6 x 75.9 x 8.8 dimensions. Trust me, lots of people are going to understand later when they hold it how big it is and unwieldly that can be. Especially if they put a hefty case to it too.

Yes for sure, its a huge phone. Its taller than a Note9. I wish it was in the 6.4-6.5" range. But I miss having a bigger phone since going to a Pixel 3 and S10. So ill enjoy the bigger screen for a little bit. Untill the Pixel 4 comes out. lol

The human body is an amazing device. It learns to hold more weight on it's own over time and adapts. I don't think we have anything to fear concerning long term effects of carrying a cell phone that weighs an once or two more than another.

Carrying weight on a consistent basis can eventually lead to any problem down the road. If you weighed 150 pounds and put on 10, carrying 160 pounds for 10 years instead of 150, that could theoretically cause issues you may not have had at 150. But this is weight that your body supports in some ways to lesser and greater extents 24/7.

A phone is not apart of your body. Its not something that "should" be attached to you. If you use a phone like its a third arm, then yes, a heavier phone will be worse than a lighter one. But if you are normal and have generally healthy bones and muscles, grams of weight in a device is not going to cause you long term harm. We really need to be more concerned with the weight we put on and the air we breathe than weight of a phone. Like Almeult says, I never even think twice about the weight of a cell phone.

Having said all that, I do not like big and large phones and a heavier phone would be a con for me in buying the device. But its not because of a health reason.

Just be glad you don't have to carry this phone.....

I couldn't care less about the weight. This is a possible purchase for me in the future.

As much as I love the look of the phone, I wish a more compact size option was available. I've seen the size comparison to the S10+ and XS Max and the OP7 Pro is a bit taller but a bit narrower. I'll have to pass unfortunately. It's just not convenient for me to carry daily.

Man, you have no idea how much I miss the OnePlus X. I loved that phone, and looking back on it, it was missing a lot of features that I value now. I really wish OnePlus would make a small phone again.

I can verify that this is quite a bit heavier than my OP6T. More like Note 9 weight

I think people don't understand how damaging carrying a heavy phone is daily all day almost. The lighter the better for you.
Coming from someone who owned the Moto Nexus 6, weight is not an issue. That was a BIG HEAVY phone and I loved it!

the Nexus 6 was an excellent size, I love huge phones.

I currently have both the Note9 (heavy) and the Pixel 3a XL (light)

I usually have a heavy duty case on the Note9 and no case on the XL.

I get used to whichever one I am using at the time, but I can be quite jarring to switch from one to the other.
