Signal bars back down to 2.1 levels?

So I rebooted my phone on Saturday and realized that my signal bars that are being displayed are back down to what they were before the 2.2 update. The actual signal seems to remain unchanged, but it seems that all of my signal bars are 2 bars lower than they should be until I make a call, then they jump up to where they're supposed to be until I end the call. Has anyone else experienced this?

yes , i thought it was just me i did a few * 228's it temporarily restores it but not for long so as per usual with vzw updates it would appear that 2.2 is more of the same ol same ol vzw

I had to restart my phone again today and now it seems the signal bars are sticking to where they should be again. Not sure why, and it's probably just a placebo effect. We'll see how long it lasts I guess.

Have you tried instead of *228, *18?

*18 hooks you up to the closest tower as to where you currently are at,, its just a 2 second popup that goes away on it's own, no recording or anything if you blink you might even miss that 2 second connection of the screen shot. ;)

or you could try *22899 but that just is like an *228 option 1 thing best bet might to test *18

Weird. So I just tried *18 and my service jumped to full bars + 3G, then a second later went to 0 bars, then 1x, then back up to full bars + 3G, and now back to nothing.

I was on rubix blurred 0.3 with Onyx concepts gala 1.6 and I had erratic service in my office. Full service + 3G, then almost no bars, then 1x, then some bars, etc. I had never noticed this as an issue before. Prior to this I was on flyx 0.1 final and didn't notice these issues.

So finally today I gave up and restored my backup of flyx, but now i'm still noticing close to no signal. not sure what's going on because i'm in midtown NYC so I typically have good service. I guess tomorrow I'll bring another vzw phone and see what the service looks like.

Anyone else noticing this?

I don't think it's the actual signal that's causing the problem, just the signal bars that are being displayed. The signal doesn't seem to vary much, but the actual bars will jump from anywhere to 1 to 4 bars randomly when the phone is just sitting there.

It's these dang'd kids and their high falutin’ New Math! Can't figure an algorithm!

And While I’m at it! Get Off My Lawn!

;)

Sorry – couldn’t help myself.

I have found in the last 3 years , The smarter the phone , the worse the call quality.

I get less 3g coverage the past two weeks in the NJ area then in previous weeks. Wonder if Verizon is doing something aka LTE and it's affecting towers?

My phone does something weird. I can have full bars but if I receive a call it will drop down to 1 bar and is about to drop the call. I don't get it. Does anyone else have this problem? It does this for text messages as well. When I'm sending or receiving a message it drops down to 1 bar and when I get the message or after the message has been sent it will go back up to full bars. Is this normal? And could the internal radio be damaged due to the phone being dropped? I asked the VZW Support on Twitter and they said it was possible but to check to see if I could hear and broken pieces within my phone. Anybody else going through this or am I the only one?

Fixed at the VZW store. Rep took the phone to the back and did something called PRI (i think) and said that it should kick in within 48 hours but it kicked in immediately and now I'm getting better signal!!!
