Signal Drops to 1 bar.

Ugh, bars mean nothing (as already pointed out many times...)

You need to know what your -dBM is. That is a true measure of signal strength. On your EVO, type #*#*4636*#*# and then go to Phone Info and look at the signal strength. Anything around -60 to -80 is decent. The "lower" (-60 is higher than -100), the worse your signal is...

Use that as a measure...

What do you mean "go to phone info"?

I have this type of signal issue all the time at my house. Here is what will happen if you keep pestering Sprint: they will tell you that they see your signal issue on the tower, and they will escalate the issue to network support. Then they will have engineering "check" the towers in your area. The engineers will either say they found a problem and fixed it, or that everything is working fine. What they won't do is actually solve the problem. That will never happen.

My home address still shows as being in the best possible coverage on Sprint's maps. But the reality is that I know several Sprint users in a 4-5 block area that have exactly the same issue. The problem is that Sprint thinks the network should be covering my area because their towers are working. If only they would actually drive over here and try making a few phone calls, rather than just looking at computer maps and simulated signal patterns.

Best of luck, friend.

Signal does not matter. I switched rom versions and my signal went from 5/5 to 2/5 but I still get perfect speeds and no dropped calls.

I have said it before and I will say it again - signal bars do not matter. Dropped calls and speeds do. iPhone has shown better signal than it was actually getting since the 2g. Who cares?

Red Kujawa maybe you shouldn't look and analyze into things so much. If the phone is working, then it's working. Come on man, just chill and stop looking for issues with the phone. I'm not trying to be offending, but it seems your constantly posting about some issue with this device.

its not a problem with the phone, I already said and corrected that. Its all sprint phones in my area. But maybe you should read my signature a bit closer.

I don't think he was being rude or anything, just giving a little friendly advice. Plus your signature is contradictory: you make a point to say it's an open forum, but then you tell people not to post unless it's what you want to read.

A quick look and you have half a dozen threads reporting "problems" with signal strength, but no actual problems with service disruption, just bouncing number of signal bars. These fluctuations can be caused by a myriad of things from solar flares, atmospheric conditions, interference from man-made devices, tower issues, unseen obstructions from natural objects, etc. You should have an idea by now that it's not a problem with your phone. As long as you can transmit data and make/receive calls, just ignore it because it's not a problem.

I'm not going to say don't post things you think are a problem, but just think how you make a device look bad repeatedly posting about the same issue when there is really nothing wrong.

Good point I'll keep that in mind for future posts.

So it has come to my attention that you actually can hold this device wrong. I thought the guys who said that were referring to the apple thing so I do apologize for that. It might help explain whats been happening for me, not all of it but some.

They WERE joking. There is no Applegate issues for the Evo, sorry to disappoint. No offense but you are just whining about nothing at this point. Until you start getting dropped calls or frozen 3g speeds I think it is safe to assume you mind is ****ing with you.

Yeah that's pretty much where I am at though. sometimes it just takes the truth from a few people to give it to you strait. Thanks for the all the help and I did learn quite a bit about cell networking so it wasn't all bad.

Use google voice when at home. call over your Wireless signal and you wont ever care about signal in your house. works for me.

well I'm pretty sure something is wrong here, last night I lost my 3G data connecton and there was nothing I could due to restore it. I tried restoring my data profile, doing a hard reset, updating profile. I don't really think it was the phone but I am going to have it tested today. It was gone for at least three hours and then I gave up and went to bed and it was up and working today.

Why are you hard resetting your phone when it's clear and you talked to Sprint and they acknowledged that all phones in the area are having problems and it's because of their network?

Just following the instructions from the advanced tech support team. I told them right away that is wasn't going to help but they so want to blame my phone. I just had it tested and it passed so it only leaves the tower.

Do you know if there good coverage by Verizon? If yes, try to force Verizon on your phone

Just an update, I have multiple tickets open at sprint through their engineering department and they just called back saying that they closed it and opened a national ticket. I don't know what it means but I assume that they see a problem other wise they wouldn't go through this. I have gone out if town since then and it gets better on different towers so it rules out the phone. I will post back with more details when I know.

P.S. Sprints CS is top notch and I have had great service, when I call it almost seems like they care.
