I'm inside my apartment right now, and it says the 1X dBm is -73 and the 4G dBm is -101. I believe it's the 1X that does calls, right?

I believe so. That's why my calls were never an issue where 4G was. I was even randomly losing data signal completely when I was in areas with -90 dBm or so on 4G. Others have said it has never happened. But one thing is for sure and that's it was the phone and not the tower since no others do it.

I don't know. I had a RAZR and the signal was amazing. I upgraded to a RAZR Maxx HD and the signal was mediocre compared to the original RAZR.

Likewise. Drop calls at my office where my original RAZR was rock solid.

I'd like to know what those settings are about. I noticed them when I first got the phone, and I've never been sure which setting it's supposed to be on. I've had it on LTE/CDMA mode the whole time, but I don't know what it means to have it set to Global, which is the default setting out of the box.

Global would allow it to work in other countries with a desperate Global SIM card. For your purpose I would set it to LTE/CDMA so there is no random switching or confusion.

Odd that it's set to Global out of the box, in a setting that's kinda hidden.

Verizon claimed it was a Global phone so rather than confuse people they put it on that setting by default. Could you imagine going overseas and it not working because it was set to LTE/CDMA? I agree it should be set for our country by default but oh well.
