Create a contact for that person, then in the Contacts app, bring up that contact, tap More, then Block Contact. Or do you still want them to call, but just not have a ringtone?
Maybe DND choose favorite contacts and don't have them as a favoriteOddly, the Samsung Contacts app no longer seems to have an option to set a custom ringtone for a contact. This is still an option in the Google Contacts app.
@mustang7757, are you aware of some other way to do this on Samsung phones now?

Okay, maybe I'm misunderstanding & I apologize if I am, however, I am on Android 11 & I still can assign custom ringtones in my Samsung contacts. After opening a contact, it's under 'view more'. Then select Ringtone.
I'm on a N20U however, not an a40.
Zedge has silent ringtones that you can download.
Again, I apologize if I'm missing something. I have my dunce hat standing by just in case.
I'm so sorry. That doesn't seem right.
Isn't there an edit option on your contacts so that you could update phone number, address, etc. That's where you would find the view more section to add a custom ringtone. (Not the More option in the right corner of the attached screenshot)

Aha! Thanks for pointing that out. That's not where the option is on Pixels or other phones, so I didn't think to look there!
