Under my notifications panel when I swipe down there's something that says "silent notifications" with a tiny x next to it. Is this new? I don't remember seeing it on my Note 9?
I noticed that too. Yes, it seems to be something new. Just labels the notification as a reminder for when you have them silenced for any reason.
This is not new probably started with Android 8. You have the option to keep notifications silent so they are not intrusive sitting in your notification tray up top. For example, my Samsung Health app is constantly silent in the notification tray so I can peak at my steps when I want to. Some app notifications let you drill down further into the settings where you'll find the silent options.![]()

I don't think many apps utilized it early on.That's odd. I swear I've never seen that little bar before getting the Ultra, and I've had different notifications silenced.
You have to tap further on each app notification setting. How can you manage which ones you want in the silent category?
You can long press notifications and change it to alert or silent.
Think it was added in Android 10. It's on my S10 too.
