Bought new phone so sending S8+ to niece. We both have Verizon. If I reset the phone and leave the SIM card installed, will she be able to use it or will she need a new SIM from Verizon? Seems like she should be good to go.

The SIM card is tied to your account/phone number. Actually, if you take the SIM out and put it into your new device it will transfer your number to that new device. She will need a SIM, account and phone number, unless your goal is to give her your phone number too.

If its already activated, then will be ok , as long as your ok with her being on the account with that number.

Your subscriber id card (sim) should stay with you, as it also can contain personal data. Would you not be giving up your phone number too?
