Android Central Question
I have a Huawei P20 Pro (dual sim). Last month I visited Vietnam and bought a Vietnamese sim card (on Mobifone network). The staff put the sim in for me, in slot 1, and changed some settings to make it function (didn't see exactly what they did), leaving my UK EE sim in slot 2. Both sims worked absolutely fine.
Since returning home, I have tried to use my dual sim with two UK sim cards (original EE, still in slot 2, and a Virgin Mobile sim in slot 1). The sim in slot 1 shows emergency calls only.
The Virgin mobile sim works perfectly in slot 2, and the EE sim also does not work in slot 1, so the problem is nothing to do with the sim cards. I have tried resetting network settings, HiCare diagnostics on the phone with Huawei customer support to no avail. Have also tried manual APN settings for the Virgin Mobile sim in slot 1, yet nothing will make it budge from 'Emergency calls only'.
Is it possible the staff in Vietnam changed something that means slot 1 is no longer working with a UK sim? Or is it a hardware issue?
